Lauryl glucoside (CAS: 110615-47-9) is a non-ionic surfactant formed by the condensation of natural fatty alcohol (lauryl alcohol) and glucose. Its physical state is theoretically a white/colourless solid, but it is extremely difficult to obtain and unstable, so it rarely exists or is sold in pure solid form. In industrial and cosmetic applications, it is mostly in the form of transparent viscous liquid or cream-like semi-solid (affected by temperature), with an appearance described as a colourless to pale yellow liquid, a mild and faint oily smell, and soluble in water.

Lauryl glucoside serves not only as a surfactant in personal care products but also as a raw material for organic synthesis. It reacts with maleic anhydride first, followed by sulfonation with sodium sulfite to produce AG-SS. Additionally, it functions as an air-entraining agent for cement: it accelerates the hydration reaction, enabling uniform distribution of small air bubbles in the cement slurry and thereby significantly enhancing the slurry’s compressive strength.
