Phenytoin sodium CAS#630-93-3
Phenytoin sodium functions as both an antiepileptic and antiarrhythmic agent. It inhibits the spread of abnormal electrical activity from cerebral lesion sites to adjacent normal brain tissue, thereby exerting an antiepileptic effect. It suppresses ectopic pacemaker sites in both the ventricles and atria, while also accelerating atrioventricular conduction and reducing myocardial automaticity—contributing to its antiarrhythmic properties. Notably, therapeutic doses do not induce sedative or hypnotic effects.Clinically, it is indicated for the management of epileptic generalized tonic-clonic seizures, simple and complex partial seizures, secondary generalized seizures, and status epilepticus. Additionally, it can be used to treat trigeminal neuralgia, paroxysmal choreoathetosis, paroxysmal control disorders, myotonia, and cardiac conduction disturbances caused by tricyclic antidepressant overdose.

Phenytoin sodium CAS#630-93-3 Application
This class of agents encompasses antiepileptic and antiarrhythmic drugs. It demonstrates efficacy against epileptic grand mal seizures, exhibits moderate effectiveness for psychomotor seizures and focal seizures, yet is not only ineffective for petit mal seizures but may even precipitate them.Phenytoin sodium is indicated for epileptic seizures (including psychomotor and focal seizures), trigeminal neuralgia, and arrhythmias. Specifically, it is suitable for managing generalized tonic-clonic seizures, complex partial seizures (such as psychomotor seizures and temporal lobe epilepsy), simple partial seizures (localized seizures), and status epilepticus.Additionally, these agents are commonly utilized for antiepileptic purposes, the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and sciatica, as well as for antiarrhythmic therapy and blood pressure reduction.
