Product Details

Products Description of Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate CAS#584-84-9

Toluene diisocyanate (TDI), chemical formula (OCN)₂C₆H₃CH₃, presents as a water-white to pale yellow liquid with a sharp and pungent odor. It undergoes a reaction with water to produce carbon dioxide, has a specific gravity of 1.22 (greater than water), and is toxic when inhaled or ingested. It is a potent irritant to the skin and other tissues, especially the eyes. The TLV in air is 0.005 ppm, and the IDLH concentration is 10 ppm.

Product Application of  Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate CAS#584-84-9

Toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI) ranks among the most extensively utilized isocyanates. It is employed in the production of rigid and flexible urethane foams, elastomers, and coatings. Commercially, it is supplied either as a pure compound or as mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-isomers, with typical ratios of 80:20 and 65:35. Occupational allergies constitute the primary cause of work-related respiratory illnesses worldwide, and TDI is a prominent respiratory sensitizer associated with the development of occupational asthma.
