Ethyl acetoacetate ranks as a critical raw material for organic synthesis. Within pesticide manufacturing, it is employed to produce a range of intermediates and end products: α-chloroethyl acetoacetate (intermediate for organophosphorus insecticide coumaphos), 2-methoxy-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine (for pyrimidinoxam), 2-isopropyl-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine (for diazinon), carbamate insecticide pirimicarb, fungicide oxazolidinone, herbicide imipenem, and rodenticides coumarin and warfarin. It also acts as an intermediate for new-generation fungicides (cyprodinil, difulmetorim, furammetpyr) and the plant growth regulator cintofen. Additionally, it finds extensive application in pharmaceuticals, plastics, dyes, fragrances, varnishes, and additives sectors.
