Products Description of Ethyl acetoacetate CAS# 141-97-9

Ethyl acetoacetate (CAS# 141-97-9) is a very important organic synthetic raw material. Chemically, it belongs to the β-ketone ester class of compounds. At room temperature, it appears as a colorless transparent oily liquid with the aroma of ripe fruits (apples, rum), and gradually turns slightly yellow over time. It exhibits a significant "ketone-eneol interconversion" phenomenon. At room temperature, it mainly exists in the ketone form, but also contains a certain proportion of the enol form, which enables it to possess the chemical properties of both ketone and enol.

Product Application of  Ethyl acetoacetate CAS# 141-97-9

Pharmaceutical industry: It is a key intermediate for synthesizing a variety of important drugs, often used in the manufacture of aminopyrine, piroxicam, chloroquine, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, and various sulfonamide drugs.

Pesticides and dyes: In agricultural chemicals, it is used for synthesizing herbicides (such as Green Grass Killer) and insecticides; in the dye industry, it is used for synthesizing azo dyes and fluorescent whitening agents.

Food and flavors: Due to its fruity aroma, it is widely used as a raw material for food flavorings, and is used to blend flavors such as apples, pineapples, strawberries, and rum in flavoring agents.

Organic synthesis reagents: In laboratories and industries, it is often used in the "acetylacetate synthesis method", and is an important precursor for synthesizing various substituted acetones, substituted acetic acids, and heterocyclic compounds (such as pyridine, pyrimidine derivatives).
