Products Description of Sodium sulfate CAS#7757-82-6
Sodium sulfate (CAS No. 7757-82-6, chemical formula: Na₂SO₄), also known as thenardite and salt cake, is a crystalline compound with a melting point of 888°C (1632°F).
In its natural form (called thenardite), sodium sulfate is found in Chile and Spain. It is used in the production of paperboard, glass, and freezing mixtures. Its hydrate, Na₂SO₄·10H₂O—also referred to as "Glauber's salt"—is a white, water-soluble solid. It is formed by heating sodium chloride and sulfuric acid, and is used in dyeing, glass manufacturing, and the preparation of sodium bisulfate.
