Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) serves as an adhesive in glue sticks, an emulsifier and disintegrant for solution polymerization, and an additive in Doro's RNA extraction buffer. It also acts as a liquid-phase dispersion enhancer in diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) NMR and a thickener in tooth whitening gels.Beyond these uses, it is found in personal care items such as shampoos and toothpastes, inkjet printer inks, and contact lens solutions. It functions as a food additive and, in the wine industry, as a fining agent for white wine.Additionally, it is employed as a capping agent in the polyol process for synthesizing silver nanowires.
