Di-n-octyl sebacate is water-insoluble but demonstrates broad solubility in organic solvents including hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, esters, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and ethers. It features excellent compatibility with a range of resins (polyvinyl chloride, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose) and rubbers (e.g., chloroprene rubber).

Key performance attributes include high plasticizing efficiency, low volatility, superior cold resistance, and strong heat, light, and electrical insulation properties. When heated, it imparts effective lubricity, ensuring the final products achieve a desirable surface appearance and tactile quality. Its application scope is focused on cold-resistant wire and cable materials, artificial leather, films, sheets, and plates.
