Products Description of Carbomer CAS#9007-20-9
Carbomer (CAS# 9007-20-9) is a high molecular polymer obtained by cross-linking acrylic acid. Its appearance is usually a white, loose powder, with a characteristic mild odor and strong hygroscopicity. It is a weakly acidic substance. In its acidic form, it is hydrophilic and readily swells in water and polar organic solvents such as glycerol and ethanol. Its own viscosity is relatively low, but after adding alkaline substances (such as sodium hydroxide, triethanolamine) for neutralization, the molecular chains will expand due to electrostatic repulsion and rapidly form a high-viscosity transparent gel.

Product Application of Carbomer CAS#9007-20-9
As an excellent rheological regulator, thickener and suspension stabilizer, carbomer is widely used in the following fields:
Cosmetics and personal care products: It is the transparent base for high-end cosmetics, and is widely used in the preparation of lotions, creams, shampoos, body washes and disinfectant gels, providing a refreshing and non-greasy skin sensation and good stability.
Pharmaceutical preparations: As an excipient for pharmaceuticals, it is often used in topical ointments, eye gels, oral mucosal gels and controlled-release formulations. It can prolong the retention time of drugs in the cornea or on the skin, promote absorption and have no irritation to the mucosa.
Industry and food: In industry, it can be used as a thickener for coatings, inks and adhesives, as well as a scale inhibitor and dispersant in water treatment; in the food industry, it is used as a thickener and stabilizer for dairy products, seasonings and candies and pastries.
