Tributyl citrate (TBC) stands out as an excellent eco-friendly plasticizer and lubricant. At room temperature, it exists as a non-toxic, colorless, transparent oily liquid with a fruity scent. Its boiling point is 170℃ (under 133.3Pa), and the open-cup flash point reaches 185℃.It dissolves in most organic solvents, boasting low volatility, strong compatibility with resins, and high plasticization efficiency. In Europe and the United States, it is approved for use in food packaging, medical and sanitary products, as well as in the production of children’s soft toys, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, flavors and fragrances, and cosmetics.TBC endows products with excellent cold resistance, water resistance, and mildew resistance. Resins plasticized with it exhibit good transparency and low-temperature bending properties, along with low volatility, minimal extractability in various media, and strong thermal stability—maintaining their color when heated. Additionally, lubricating oils formulated with TBC deliver effective lubrication performance.
