Products Description of Benzyl chloride  CAS#100-44-7

Benzyl chloride, alternatively called α-chlorotoluene, is a colorless liquid with an intense pungent smell. It mixes well with organic solvents like chloroform, ethanol and ether. It does not dissolve in water but is capable of evaporating alongside water vapor. The vapor of benzyl chloride irritates the eye mucosa and acts as a potent lacrimator. Additionally, it serves as a key intermediate in organic synthesis, finding extensive application in producing dyes, pesticides, synthetic fragrances, detergents, plasticizers and pharmaceuticals.
