Products Description of Benzoic acid CAS#65-85-0
Benzoic acid is the simplest aromatic carboxylic acid. This weak acid acts as a precursor for many key organic syntheses. More than 90% of commercial benzoic acid goes straight to phenol and caprolactam production, with growing use in making glycol benzoates for adhesive plasticizers.

Product Application of Benzoic acid CAS#65-85-0
As an important food preservative, benzoic acid inhibits molds, yeasts, and bacteria under acidic conditions—but has little effect on acid-producing bacteria. Its best antimicrobial performance occurs at pH 2.5–4; typically, lower pH is better, and it can be used up to pH 4.5–5.
