Products Description of Aniline CAS#62-53-3
Aniline, the simplest primary aromatic amine, is obtained by replacing one benzene hydrogen with an amino group. It is a colorless oily flammable liquid with a pungent odor, darkening to brown on exposure to air or sunlight. Per Chemicalbook data: melting point -6.3°C, boiling point 184°C, relative density 1.0217 (20/4°C), refractive index 1.5863, open-cup flash point 70°C, ignition point 770°C, decomposition at 370°C. It is slightly soluble in water and miscible with ethanol, ether, chloroform, etc. Steam distillation is applicable (zinc powder added to inhibit oxidation); purified aniline can be stabilized with 10–15ppm NaBH₄ to prevent oxidation degradation.
