Products Description of Manganese carbonate CAS#598-62-9

Manganese(II) carbonate can be obtained by mining its natural mineral form, rhodochrosite. In laboratory settings, it can be prepared as a pale pink precipitate: this is done by adding sodium bicarbonate to a manganese(II) salt solution that has been saturated with carbon dioxide. The resulting product is the monohydrate form, with the formula MnCO₃•H₂O. The amorphous powder is usually light pink in color, and it may also appear almost white. The color is influenced by purity. For industrial-grade products, due to impurities or air oxidation, the color will darken and turn light brown or brownish yellow.

Product Application of Manganese carbonate CAS#598-62-9

Manganese carbonate has diverse practical uses across multiple sectors. In agriculture, it is commonly added to fertilizers to correct manganese deficiency in crops, supporting healthy plant growth. In the food and manufacturing industries, it is incorporated into health foods, and in ceramics production, it functions both as a glaze colorant (to enhance appearance) and a flux (to lower melting points). It also works as a stain for concrete. Medically, it acts as a hematinic: this type of nutrient is essential for hematopoiesis (the process of blood cell creation), and the primary substances in this category are iron, vitamin B12, and folate.
