Products Description of Sodium hydrosulfide CAS#16721-80-5

The appearance of sodium hydrosulfide depends on its purity and form of existence. It is a colorless crystal when pure. However, industrial-grade sodium hydrosulfide often appears as light gray or pale yellow 、orange-red solids—either in block, granular, or powdered form—due to impurities. It is hygroscopic and has the odor of hydrogen sulfide. Its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline, and it can react with acids to release toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.

Product Application of Sodium hydrosulfide CAS#16721-80-5

Sodium hydrosulfide is a versatile industrial material with diverse uses across sectors. In the paper industry, it aids paper pulping; in the dyestuff field, it supports dyestuff processing; in textile manufacturing, it enables desulfurization of rayon and cellophane; and in leather production, it facilitates hide unhairing. It also acts as a bleaching reagent for relevant materials, and is widely employed in the cloth, paper, pulp, and dyestuff industries. Beyond this, it plays specific roles: in copper mining, it works as a flotation agent to separate minerals; in synthetic chemistry, it serves as a key intermediate; and it is also a raw material for the industrial production of ammonium sulfate and ethanethiol.
