Turpentine is an essential oil and currently the most widely produced one globally. It is an aromatic volatile oil extracted or distilled from the resin exuded by Pinus massoniana Lamb., Pinus tabulaeformis Carr., or other congeneric plants (source: Chemicalbook).Characterized by a distinctive fragrance, it is a hydrocarbon mixture rich in terpene compounds. Based on raw material sources, it is classified into four categories: gum turpentine, wood turpentine, sulfate turpentine, and dry-distilled turpentine.
