Products Description of Basic Violet 14 CAS 632-99-5
Aniline (coal tar) dyes are diverse and extensively applied, yet they are susceptible to photofading – a phenomenon more prominent in aniline blue, brilliant green, methyl green and related variants. Proper pH control during formulation and protection from direct sunlight can extend their color retention to several years. Basic fuchsin (English: Basic Fuchsin) is an alkaline dye presenting as dark red powder or crystals, soluble in water (1%) and alcohol (8%, Chemicalbook). Its applications span biological preparations: staining collagen/elastic fibers, fuchsin granules, central nervous system cell nuclei, lignified cell walls of vascular plants, and as a general stain for protozoa/charophytes. In bacteriology, it is a key reagent for Mycobacterium tuberculosis identification. It also acts as a histochemical agent in the Jurgens reaction and has been used for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) verification.
