Product Application of  1,4-Butanediol CAS# 110-63-4

1,4-Butanediol (BDO) and its derivatives find extensive application across the chemical industry, including in the production of engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals, and elastic fibers. It serves as a key raw material in the synthesis of epothilones—a novel class of anticancer agents—and is also utilized in the stereoselective synthesis of (-)-Brevisamide. The primary application of 1,4-butanediol lies in the manufacturing of tetrahydrofuran (THF), which is further processed into polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG). This glycol is predominantly used in the production of spandex fibers, urethane elastomers, and copolyester ethers.
