Sodium fluorosilicate appears as white crystals, crystalline powder, or colorless hexagonal crystals. It is odorless and tasteless, with a relative density of 2.68 and the ability to absorb moisture. It dissolves in solvents like ethyl ether but is insoluble in alcohol; its solubility in acid is higher than in water. It decomposes in alkaline solutions to form sodium fluoride and silica, and when heated (seared) to 300°C, it breaks down into sodium fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride.

Additionally, it is applied as a flotation agent, a component in wet etching, a wood preservative, a brazing flux, and a welding compound—and it acts as an active ingredient in concrete.
