Products Description of 2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one CAS#2682-20-4

2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one is commonly abbreviated as MIT in the industry. It is an efficient fungicide and preservative. As a member of isothiazolinone organic compounds, it can inhibit the growth and reproduction of various microorganisms—including bacteria, fungi, and yeasts (per Chemicalbook data). The common types of MIT available on the market are "high-purity raw material" and "industrial/hygiene water solution". The form of high-purity raw material (with purity ≥ 95% or 98%) is usually a pale yellow crystalline solid. The form of industrial/hygiene water solution (with concentration 10% - 15%) is usually a light yellow transparent liquid.

Product Application of  2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one CAS#2682-20-4

Cosmetics and personal care (strictly regulated by regulations):

Rinsing products (shampoo, body wash) are allowed to have a maximum addition of 0.01%; EU and domestic regulations prohibit the addition of MIT to occlusive skin care products (cream, essence, mask), as it is prone to induce skin contact allergies.

Industrial anti-corrosion and sterilization (largest usage scenarios):

Coatings, water-based emulsions, paper pulp materials, industrial circulating water, metal cutting fluids, cleaning agents, adhesives, internal anti-corrosion of ink tanks.

Others: Wet wipes, household disinfectant cleaners, water treatment algicide
