Poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) solution (PDADMAC) is a cationic polyelectrolyte widely used as a flocculant. It is synthesized via radical polymerization of diallyldimethylammonium chloride (DADMAC) with an organic peroxide serving as the catalyst. It is highly soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol, aromatic hydrocarbons and other organic solvents. It has an extremely high positive charge density and can effectively neutralize substances with negative charges. It has good hydrolytic stability, is not sensitive to changes in pH value, and possesses chlorine resistance.
