Product Details
2-Butanol CAS#78-92-2
It is a colorless, transparent liquid with a characteristic alcoholic odor. Its flash point is below 0 degrees Fahrenheit; it is less dense than water, yet its vapors are heavier than air, and it is miscible with water. The substance can cause moderate irritation to the eyes and skin, with prolonged or repeated contact potentially leading to skin defatting and dryness. Inhaled vapors may also irritate the nasal passages, throat, and respiratory tract, and ingestion of the liquid could pose health hazards.

Product Application Of 2-Butanol CAS#78-92-2
2-Butanol has a wide range of industrial applications. It serves as a key feedstock for manufacturing methyl ethyl ketone and sec-butyl acetate, and acts as a solvent in the formulation of lacquers and alkyd enamels. It is also incorporated into hydraulic brake fluids and cleaning agents, while its xanthate derivatives are utilized in ore flotation processes. Furthermore, 2-butanol is employed in the polishing and cleaning of materials, as well as in the production of paint removers, fruit flavorings, perfumes, and dyestuffs.
