Dicyandiamide is an organic compound with the formula C₂H₄N₄, appearing as a white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water, ethanol, and dimethylformamide but insoluble in ether and benzene. It is mainly used as a curing agent for epoxy resins, a raw material for melamine production, and an additive in fertilizers, while it is of low toxicity, stable under normal storage conditions, and may decompose to release ammonia gas when heated to high temperatures.
