Products Description of Tetrasodium pyrophosphate CAS#7722-88-5

Sodium pyrophosphate—also called Tetrasodium pyrophosphate or TSPP—is an odorless white powder or granular substance that acts as a buffering agent in laboratories (e.g., for preparing EDTA-sodium pyrophosphate extraction buffers in soil sample microcystin analysis); it also functions as a water softener, thickener, dispersant, wool defatting agent, metal cleaner, and builder in soaps and synthetic detergents, as well as a general sequestering agent and aid in metal electrodeposition, while serving as a tartar control agent in toothpaste and dental floss, a chelating agent in antimicrobial studies, and a food additive in products like chicken nuggets, crab meat, and canned tuna.

Product Application of  Tetrasodium pyrophosphate CAS#7722-88-5

Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate (also called sodium pyrophosphate, tetrasodium diphosphate, or TSPP; chemical formula Na₄P₂O₇) is a mildly alkaline coagulant, emulsifier, and sequestrant with a pH of 10, moderately soluble in water (0.8 g/100 ml at 25°C). It acts as a coagulant in uncooked instant puddings for thickening, reduces meltability and fat separation in cheese, works as a dispersant in malted milk and chocolate drink powders, and prevents crystal formation in tuna—additionally, this non-toxic, biocompatible compound is used as an electroactive medium for exfoliating surface coatings and as a food additive.
